I blended what the client (who is a tree surgeon) specifically wanted with my own observations of oaks that were roughly 100 years old and created a lively rendition of a thriving oak during its Spring/Summer months. Amongst the branches is the shadowy spirit of the tree peering out. I wanted to give my tree a truly large scope of being, so I printed a slice of deep space above it, this is inspired by classic Ukiyo-e prints. I felt this powerful band of mysterious darkness needed to be balanced out, with a misty landscape which compliments this lone tree very well.
