New series, Summer 2021.

The end of Spring 2021 will see the completion of ten new 3D printed woodblock paintings entitled 'Lockdown'. My playful interpretation of the Covid 19 confinement experience for us in 2020. I wanted to do it in Art Naïve style and used the jungle to to capture the surreal nature of being confined, with not much else apart from the internet with which to inform ourselves of the outside world . The painting features notable 2020 events such as the search for a vaccine, general 'fake news' on the internet, the flying 'Tic-Tac' referring to footage released by the Pentagon, the importance of caring and loving each other, and aliens!

All pieces are unique hand printed works, using 3D printed woodblocks created by the artist, prints are produced with acrylic paint on paper. Can be delivered framed or unframed, dimensions: Image/paper size W700mmx H500mm.

Habité

The Habité series is a result of my most recent developments of the 3D printed woodblock idea. An exploration of colour exploring different emotions from one to the next. All pieces are unique hand printed works in acrylic paint on paper.

Changes

‘The felt presence of immediate experience' was coined by Terence McKenna. We can re-live our past as memories and our future as hopes and dreams, but only the present moment is real. These images have been created to give the mind a point of focus, an image free from any intention; to be reminder of McKenna's beautiful idea.

Emily Behind Glass

A curious thought about how some glass is specially made to distort instead of transmit light faithfully, led to these three playful prints. The model poses behind a faceted glass pane. The pattern in the glass becomes a kind of 'pixellator' that breaks up the gradual tones of the model's body into square pixels. This slightly dizzying effect is then captured surprisingly well by the woodblock printing process, rendering the whole image in blocklets of solid colour.

'Black Dog', a playful triptych exploring how plans and good intentions are often sabotaged by the distracting forces of the internet. Inspired by: Being distracted by the internet.

It's Not Too Late

'It's Not Too Late', A reminder to myself to stop wondering and start doing. Inspired by Dr. Ishihara's well known colourblindness tests. Like the real tests, not everyone can see the message nor believe in it. Can you?
